Individual Artist Grants

The Arts Council for Wyoming County encourages artists to apply for project funding through an initiative specifically designed for artists to create new work in their own communities

Individual Artist Grants

Individual Artist grants are designed to increase support for artist-initiated activity and highlight the role of artists as important members of the community. Grants support and enable artists to grow professionally and to enhance the cultural climate in Allegany and Wyoming Counties.

An essential element of this funding is a community engagement component. The project must engage a segment of the community through a public program, such as an exhibition, performance, reading, screening, workshop, or artist talk that is open to the public, and/or the inclusion of community involvement in the development and creative processes of the artists’ project.

The program looks for proposals of high artistic merit and asks that the artist consider the unique characteristics of Allegany and Wyoming Counties when developing their projects. Artists involved in any art form, whether visual, literary, media, traditional, or performing arts, may apply. Projects must be completed in the same county as the applicant’s address.

INDIVIDUAL ARTIST GRANTS MAY BE OFFERED IN THE AMOUNT OF $1000 OR $3000. THERE IS NO MATCH REQUIRED.

applications for 2025 projects: deadline February 5th, 2025, 4pm

Deadline for review of applications: January 10th, 4 pm.

Final Reports are due no later than 30 days after the completion of the project. All reports for previous year’s projects must be submitted by January 31 of the following year (January 31, 2025 for 2024 projects; January 31, 2026 for 2025 projects). Applicants who have not submitted a final report for a previous year’s project are not eligible to apply.

The Community Arts Grants program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered in Allegany and Wyoming counties by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
