ACWC Youth Performing Arts Scholarship

Since 2004, the ACWC Youth Performing Arts Scholarship has funded young musicians early in their career to learn more about musical performance with professional musicians. Formerly the Balus scholarship, this was originally made possible by the Mark and Cathy Balus Psalm 116:12 Foundation.

ACWC YOUTH PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

 
This scholarship is awarded once each year to one high school student who wishes to further their studies in the performing arts. The grants (up to $500) may be used to help with summer music camp fees or ongoing lessons from a professional teacher or institution.

Recipients of this scholarship are expected to perform at select ACWC events throughout the year, including the Community Arts Grants Awards Ceremony that is held in March, where the award is presented.

Criteria and requirements:

Applicant student must:

  • Live in Wyoming County
  • Be enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior at a public, private or home school
  • Have a strong interest in music and or performance arts

To Apply

Applicants must submit the following by email to acwcyouthgrants@artswyco.org:

  • A brief statement addressing your reason for submitting the grant application.
  • A biography including your name and address (one page maximum).
  • A digital photo of you with your instrument or performing (at least 300 DPI jpeg).
  • An acceptance letter into the program in which you wish to participate or a copy of the program’s application form. (A letter from current professional instructor and credentials can be substituted for this requirement.)

All information except photos must be submitted as a PDF or Microsoft WORD document (no Google Docs, please).

    ABOVE: Letchworth School District student Allison Karasiewicz, from Pike, New York was the 2018 Scholar. Funds allowed her to study with Professor Armenio Suzano, Dean of the Greatbatch School of Music at Houghton College.
