Canyon Camera Club: photography / photo mounting demonstration

July 27 @ 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Canyon Camera Club: photography / photo mounting demonstration. 12 to 3:30 pm. Castile Historical House Museum, 17 Park Rd. East, Castile.

Love of Photography and recording the past. Canyon Camera Club’s topic will be a brief history of the camera & photography, including how a camera works and how to take a better photograph.

The Canyon Camera club was started in 1948 by a small group of men who shared an interest in photography. It was named after Letchworth State Park. Through the years the club grew as they shared their knowledge with others.

The club has participated in field trips and has displayed their member’s talents. They sponsored a Photographer’s Dream Day at Mt. Morris Dam for several years where there were learning seminars and photo opportunities. Member’s photos have been displayed at the Arts Council for Wyoming County gallery, the Mt. Morris Dam and St. John’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Rochester as well as at the Wyoming County Court House. The club was a part of the Niagara Frontier Federation of clubs in both the USA and Canada. There were photography competitions amongst the clubs at these conventions. The club is still in existence today. Members have taught and judged photography for 4H members.

Funded by a Community Arts Grant. The Community Arts Grants program is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered in Allegany and Wyoming counties by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
