Learn the essential building blocks of weaving, such as warping and materials selection, setting up a loom and best practices. Beginners will gain an understanding of fundamental tapestry weaving basics and how to break with traditional weaving to “sculpt” with weft under the guidance of Tami Fuller, our keynote speaker. In this class students will “deconstruct” the act of weaving and learn to create their own completely original unorthodox piece of fiber art still rounded in traditional disciplines by applying Fuller’s principles of interrupted or deconstructed weaving and use of chaotic elements, as discussed in our Saturday keynote address. Students will leave with beginners weaving knowledge and a completed fiber art piece as an artifact of the experience. Student Loom used in class not included.
