SUMMARY:Clasped Weft Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to handle multiple weft yarns to create the classic abstract “zig-zag” of clasped weft technique. Students will use yarns of their choice and enjoy guided weaving time with hands-on instruction and learn how to manipulate multiple wefts\, and best practices for managing selvage. This is an advanced beginner/Intermediate technique: participants should be able to: Warp\, Weave Tabby and Finish off. \nStudents who require use of a loom during class may participate by reserving use of a student loom during class session. Student will have the option to purchase their student loom a la carte at student’s discretion at the close of class if needed. \nInstructor: Tami Fuller\nLevel: Intermediate/Adv. Beginner\nAge: Adult (16+)\nCategory: Weaving\nAdditional supplies needed from students: 2 skeins of contrasting worsted weight yarn + Frame Loom\, warped. Rental of warped loom and weft yarn for (opt) supply $20 \nTami Fuller is a second-generation fiber artist and educator. Her work integrates the traditional foundations of hand-constructed processes with modern technique. Her workshops are designed with an eye toward revitalizing and modernizing fiber\, ensuring the continuation of these skill sets by exposing the art form to new people within new contexts. She teaches retreats and workshops throughout the North East. Her work has received awards from NY Sheep and Wool\, Lake Affect Magazine and the Carnegie Art Center. In 2022\, she was defined as a WNY artist culture-maker and a recipient of the NY Council on the Arts “Creatives Rebuild NY” grant\, tasked with rebuilding arts access post-COVID. She is an internationally published fiber artist whose work has appeared in Fiber Art Now and her work can be found in collections in the United States\, Canada and Australia. She works out of East Aurora\, and is an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and a 2021 Roycroft Emerging Artist in Fiber.

Student Wheel Rental available for $10 additional supply fee \nMarcia Weinert (who is “Undeniably Loopy!”) has been turning fluff into stuff ever since sneaking her 9-year-old daughter’s spindle and fiber after their first class together\, thirty years ago. Her handspun skeins and original knitwear designs have taken top honors at some of the largest American festivals\, and her knitwear patterns appear in print and online. She is a yarn designer and wool broker who teaches spinning\, knitting\, felting\, and crochet in many outlets across the Northeast United States.
