ACWC's 2016 Rising Star Recipient: Erin Nesmith

Each year, the ACWC awards the Rising Star Scholarship to an emerging young artist who aspires to a lifelong career in art, and demonstrates the ability to continue producing new work. Erin Nesmith met these criteria and was featured at the ACWC's Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show and Sale.

Ms. Nesmith is a 20 year old, self taught artist who grew up in the city of Rochester. She currently resides in Leroy and is an accounting major at Genesee Community College. Erin says she has excelled in art since grade school but feared her imaginative would be considered inappropriate. It was not until college that she decided to embrace her inner muse and use her personal life experience to create exquisite work that reflects the "femininity of art". In February, she had opportunity to show three of her paintings in Links Gallery's Black Heritage exhibit at Rochester's city hall. Erin is also an emerging designer, working on an intimate apparel line to inspire women of all shapes and sizes to feel confident in their own skin.
